It looks like there has been an update and the OutWay actually won't fit the 2016 Nissan Versa Note, but you could use the similar Gateway Pro # TH78VR from Thule as an alternative. Sometimes fits will change for newer vehicles or if the bike rack is newer as the manufacturer is able to get more and more vehicles in their system which is why we are seeing this change.

Both the Blue Ox tow bars you mentioned are excellent tow bars that will work well. The Avail # BX7420 is considered the nicer one because it has the higher capacity like you mentioned and because it has longer arms. This allows for more clearance while executing turns.

Like you mentioned, the Curt trailer wiring harness # C56206 for the 2014 Nissan Versa Note does not require a direct connection to the vehicle battery whereas Tow Ready harness # 118582 does.

There isn't a safe way to go from a Class I hitch to a Class III hitch. The adapters end up putting just too much stress on the hitch which can damage it and the vehicle.
